The Opacitator appears in Escaping the Prison during Badass Bust Out. After using the drill to escape from his cell, Henry ends up in a bathroom where he can choose the option.

Appearance

It looks like a console with 2 lime green arrows buttons, a red button in between the arrow buttons and a blue slider above the buttons, it also has a bent antenna at the top of the device with a green bulb.

Description

The Opacitator can increase the user's physical transparency - The higher it is, the more likely the user would pass through other objects.

Role

Gadget Gabe's review

When Henry drills the prison floor, he ends up in a murky bathroom, with the Opacitator on the floor. When he reads the description and activates the device, he becomes transparent and sinks indefinitely until he meets his implied death in Earth's Mantle. This result in a fail.

Easter Eggs

Press the Bagel on the shelf and it will say BAGEL!

Press The Donut box on the right as Henry is going down and it will say DONUT. This is part of the Donut Want Medal.

In the Remastered Version and the Mobile Port of the game, clicking on "opaque" in Gadget Gabe's review gains you the "It's a joke..." Or on mobile "The Joke" achievement.

Gadget Gabe's review

You'll Walk Through Walls! - Gadget Gabe (2009)

Just move the blue slider to the right and you'll become as opaque (That means 'see through' for all you uneducated folks) as you want! Not only that, but the more opaque you get, the easier it will be for you to pass through solid objects!!

Fail Message

"You'd think something like that would come up in the Beta Testing."

Trivia

Dillenia

The fail screen zoomed out, showing the word "dillenia"

  • This is the first Gadget Gabe device that appears in the series.
  • The word "Opaque" is inaccurate, as it would have meant "to make light harder to pass through" and the antonym of "Transparent".
    • PuffballsUnited admits in his Henry Stickmin developer commentary that he misused "Opaque". This is because Marcus Bromander did a course on computer graphics, where Transparency is affected by Opacity settings, causing PufballsUnited to erroneously conclude that Opaque is a synonym of Transparent. Were it to increase Henry's opacity he would not behave differently, since he is already unable to pass through most entities anyway.
  • The original name for the Opacitator in his notes was "Translucer", with a entirely different design.
  • It's also called "Opacinator” in Gadget Gabe’s review in the legacy EtP.
  • As Henry descends through the prison floors, the clocks on both the 1st floor and 2nd floor indicate the time is 12:02 PM.
  • In a video made by PuffballsUnited, which was to compare the legacy and remastered versions, the knife had blood. In the final version, however, the blood has dried out.[1] This is because Puffballsunited dosen't want to make that game to have blood in this game. As seen in here.
  • Henry's ultimate fate while using this device seems to be a reference to Ian Peek's "death" from Batman Beyond.
